THE POWER OF SHAMBA

You can find the story of the Waiving Women from Ifakara in the October issue from Publik Forum
My pictures I took for the Artemed Stiftung at the St. Walburg's hospital in Tanzania, you can find in their new magazine, at the homepage and the social media channels of Artemed.

THE ROMA PRINCESSES
For two years I accompanied the photographer Kristof Huf to the Roma settlements in eastern Slovakia. The first visit was a big shock for me. I was not prepared for so much poverty and misery: drugs, alcohol and child prostitution were suddenly so close, so present. I felt powerless because of the catastrophic situation of the people. Photography gave me the opportunity to deal with it. During our visits we not only saw the terrible conditions, but also experienced many beautiful moments. We celebrated parties with the Roma, danced and laughed, but also cried and hugged people. I still have to swallow when I think about the settlements in Slovakia. But then I have to smile again and a sentence that the Romni Kveta once said to me comes to mind: "No problem, everybody die!" - take life easy and never miss an opportunity for a beautiful moment, that's what the Roma taught me.

My series THE ROMA PRINCESSES tells the story of the people in the settlements of Eastern Slovakia.

You can find my story about the Roma Princesses in the WE ARE Magazine / Canada, in Publik Forum / Germany and in the new edition of WELT DER FRAUEN / Austria.
From September to October 2025, The Roma Princesses are exhibited at Photometria in Ioannia / Greece.
From November to December 2024, THE ROMA PRINCESSES was exhibited as part of the Head on Photo festival on Bondi Beach in Sydney / Australia.

Excerpts and reports about my work with the Roma from various online magazines:

THE ENGLISH CHANNEL

On December 25, 2024, Christmas Day, 451 people arrived on the English coast on 11 boats. They have crossed the English Channel from France to England to live and work in the UK.
Around 1,500 people are therefore constantly staying at the French border between Dunkirk and Calais. From there, they try to cross the English Channel in small boats, sometimes with a tugboat or hidden under a truck. A total of 78 people lost their lives in 2024 - more than ever before.
In December 2024, I accompanied two NGOs in their work in Calais and Dunkirk.
In June 2025 the pictures were exhibited at the group exhibition I AM YOUR LOCAL at the Shepherd's Bush Market in London.

FAST FASHION IN GHANA

In December 2022 I was in Ghana with the photographers Kasia Trojak and Kristof Huf. I looked there into the problem of fast fashion in detail. The “First World” sends its used clothes to Africa, among other countries, also to Ghana. But they not only send flawless goods, but also dirty, worn and old-fashioned clothing. At the large Kantamanto market the clothes are sorted out and resold. It is the largest used clothing market in Ghana. The discarded clothing ends up in the trash. Since there is no functioning waste disposal system in Ghana, a large proportion of the clothes end up in the sea. The chemicals pollute the sea and poison the fish. The scraps of fabric get caught in the fishermen's nets. And last but not least, the old clothes are destroying the local clothing industry.

This project is not finished yet, I am still working on it.

EARTHQUAKE ANTAKYA / TURKEY

In March 2023 I was with Seifi Yildiz in his hometown of Antakya - the city that was almost completely destroyed by the earthquake in February 2023. Our association Lautlos e. V. since then has been supporting the people in his village with reconstruction.
